15 Minutes to Develop a 5-Minute Presentation
In our CORE 456 class, we were given the task of creating a 5-minute presentation with a partner in just 15 minutes on how to use a particular AI model. My partner, Chris Derick, and I chose to present on Jasper AI. We quickly gathered information about Jasper and created a PowerPoint presentation based on what we found. However, there was a twist at the end: our professor revealed that the presentation was actually about how we developed the presentation, not about the AI tool itself.
This exercise resembled a typical job interview scenario, where the interviewer asks you to think on your feet to assess your thought process and adaptability. For our new presentation, we had to explain how we approached the task and gathered information on Jasper AI. Initially, we went straight to the Jasper website, but we were stopped when we learned that access required a paid subscription.
Our next move was to turn to Google and YouTube for broader insights on the AI tool. At the same time, we began creating the slideshow, with one of us researching while the other worked on the slides, summarizing key points. From other presentations in the class, we learned that starting with something funny or memorable can make a presentation stand out and leave a lasting impression.
This exercise taught us to think quickly and adapt to unexpected challenges, simulating the kind of experience that could prove valuable in a future job interview.
